Andrey Danilov was born in Saint-Petersburg. He studied conducting at the Saint-Petersburg conservatory where his teachers were legends of Russian conducting school Ilia Musin and Yuri Temirkanov. After winning the International conducting competition in Manchester he got a position as a Junior Fellow in Conducting at the Royal Northern College of Music . 2001-2002 he worked as a Young Conductor in Association with Northern Sinfonia (Newcastle, England). Took part in several international masterclasses, leaded by Zubin Mehta, Mark Elder, Yuri Simonov.
In 2002 he started his collaboration with Saint-Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra . He worked with a number of Moscow orchestras , such as the Russian State Orchestra (named after Svetlanov),”The New Russian Orchestra”. In 2006 he made his very successful debut with the Russian National Philharmonic Orchestra (Mahler`s Second symphony),which was the beginning of a long term relationship with this wonderful orchestra.
Since 2005 he works at the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre. He made new productions of” Evgeny Onegin”,” La Traviata”, "Serenade"(Tchaikovsky),"Apollon Musagete"and "Pulcinella"(Stravinsky),"La Bayadere"(Minkus). He has a wide operatic and ballet repertoire, including : ,Queen of Spades, Carmen, Tosca, Swan Lake, Cinderella(Prokofiev)and the others . With the Novosibirsk Theatre he toured France, South Korea, China , Thailand.
In 2009 he was awarded The Russian National Prize of the most prestigious art festival” Golden Mask “ as the best conductor.
2008-09 he was the guest conductor of the Mikhailovsky Theatre (Saint-Petersburg)
From the season 2009-10 he is the guest conductor of the Mariinsky Theatre.
He is also the principal guest conductor of the Samara Philharmonic Orchestra.
In the spring 2010 he was assistant conductor for the production of Carmen (Bizet) in Baden-Baden, Germany.
